By partnering with other like-minded community organizations, we promote health and wellness for the citizens of Curry County through participation in community events such as the “Back to School Health Fair” and proclamations.
The Health Council also promotes health and wellness through its 12 Months of Wellness initiatives. Each month, the Health Council participates in hosting or partnering in an event focusing on national monthly awareness issues as well as health indicators identified in our most recent community health profile of September, 2015.
In 2014, the State of New Mexico asked its Health Councils to focus their efforts on specific outcomes in order to receive state funds. Curry County Health Council voted to make Obesity, Teen Birth Rate and Substance Abuse their three main priorities.
