Water Conservation Proclamation
WHEREAS, water is a basic and essential need of every living creature and the scarcity of water in the arid climate of the high Plains together with the diminishing levels of the Ogallala Aquifer have made addressing the water needs of our area a top priority; and
WHEREAS, actions currently being taken to address the needs of a sustainable future water supply for our area homes and businesses include the Ute Pipeline Project, water reuse project, Water Conservation Plan, and water education programs; and
WHEREAS, April has been declared as National Water Conservation Month to increase awareness about the importance of water conservation which includes providing information regarding ways to conserve water, water conservation plans and programs; and
WHEREAS, every business, industry, school and citizen can help make a difference by conserving water.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Chet Spear, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, and on behalf of Curry County, declare the month of April 2019 as
“WATER CONSERVATION MONTH”
And call upon each citizen and business to help protect our precious resource by practicing water conservation and water saving measures and encourage the residents of Curry County to become more aware of the need to save water.
