Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department Receives Certification

The Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department has been certified by the State of New Mexico Fire Marshal’s Office as a fully operational fire department. Curry County received the confirmation on behalf of the department on May 15, 2019.

The Ranchvale Volunteer Fire Department was created in May 2018 through a Resolution approved by the Curry County Commission. The fire department was on a twelve-month probation period in which the department was required to secure a fire truck and other firefighting equipment. The Fire Marshal’s office made a final inspection of the equipment, training records and other documentation in April. The Department is led by Chief Kenneth Davis and has twenty-six (26) members.

County Manager Lance Pyle commends Fire and Safety Director David Kube and Chief Davis and all of the Ranchvale Fire Department members for their commitment and hard work to make this fire department a success. “Chief Davis and the members have spent countless hours working to raise funds for equipment and to train in firefighting skills”, said Pyle.

During the 2019 Legislative Session, the County received $400,000 in State Capital Outlay funds to construct a Ranchvale Fire Station, for which planning has commenced, with a goal to begin construction in Fiscal Year 20.
