National Prevention Week Youth Art Contest

CLOVIS, NM – Calling all artists! Curry County Office of Substance Abuse Prevention (OSAP) and Mental Health Resources Inc. (MHR) are sponsoring a youth art contest. The contest is in recognition of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) National Prevention Week (NPW) and Mental Health Awareness Month in May.

SAMHSA’s next NPW is May 10 through 16, 2020. Each year around this observance, communities, and organizations across the country come together to raise awareness about the importance of substance use prevention and positive mental health.

The contest is open to all Curry County youth in grades 6 to 12! Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners, and the 1st place winner will have their artwork published in multiple County newsletters and more!

Theme: What does prevention look like to you?

Please send in artwork submissions by Saturday, May 9, and include the youth’s name, grade, and the town they are from. There are two ways the participants can enter. Send it to the Curry County - Office of Substance Abuse Prevention Facebook page or email thenderson@currycounty.org. Once all submissions are finalized, all the artwork will be uploaded to the Curry County OSAP Facebook page. Family, friends, and community members can vote by “liking” their favorite artwork! The voting period will be from Monday, May 11, to Saturday, May 16. Winners will be announced Monday May 18, 2020.

For more information about the art contest or how to enter, please contact the OSAP Program Manager, Tanya Henderson at 575-763-7725 ext. 164 or email at thenderson@currycounty.org
